French Soul Food – Brenda’s in San Francisco

Crawfish Beignets and shrimp and cheesy grits - just a few of the offerings at this well loved French Soul Food Spot in the Bay......

Although I’m from NYC, I’d say the closest thing to a second home would be the Bay Area. During my early years djing I was in San Francisco so often people often thought I was from the 415. Consequently to this day the bay area is my favorite place to spin.

It also is one of my favorite places to eat. On this trip via the recommendations of my LA dweller homie wells_p, I hit up this French Soul Food spot Brenda’s. Peep the website for the “about” – since 2007 Brenda’s interpretation of French soul food has been filling the  bellies of many people from the city by the bay.

Unfortunately, I missed the opportunity to check their weekend brunch this time around. BUT i did get to sample these three delectible tidbits off their dinner menu.

The Crawfish  Beignets   3.00 each
Spiced with cayenne, scallions & cheddar – basically a savory donut with crawfish.

In just this small sampling hopefully you can tell that the food is pretty legit. For brunch, and dinner make sure to come early , this spot doesn’t take reservations 😉
